"Du Liegst Mir Im Herzen"

My oldest host brother Aaron and I one night during dinner started talking about art. He also went to Gymnasium (High School, but only certain people can go to it. They have other schools where were you could instead and do an apprenticeship) and his main subject was art. He still does a lot of art. He does a lot of woodwork. and he sketches and paints. Anyways, we were talking about art periods and artists when he started mentioning this Swiss artist named H.R Giger. H.R Giger was the artist for the creature in the Alien movies. Eveything that had to do with the aliens in these movies, he did it. Aaron is a big fan of his and was telling me all about Giger's paintings and he got really excited and said we should go to the museum together some time with Jael. I of course said yes, even though after seeing some pictures, I wasn't a huge fan of his subjects. I likes his style and the way he painted them, but what he was painting, not a huge fan. But the town was fantastic!

"Come on Eileen"

So there are some things that I can't remember when they happened exactly so I thought I would just write those in here. I made my second host family pumpkin pie one day because they actually had a whole pumpkin in their basement. They really liked it which I was surprised about. I don't know why, but I thought they would be making that face Gru made in Despicable Me 3 when the girls made him and his wife soup with gummi bears in it: Despicable Me 3 Video (The Soup of the Day) They thought it was great. My host sister Jael helped me with it and we had a lot of fun together making it. I ended up making a second one because my host dad Andre, my host mom Lilianne and my host cousin Shianne really liked it and we still had a lot of pumpkin puree left. I think I made that around end of January or beginning of February. My second host family went to church every Sunday, but it wasn't like regular church. The group is called Pfimi and it's a Christian church, but it&#

April 4

!! I wrote this entry on April 4 but I didn't have internet !! So, as of today I am officially in my third and last host family. I promise I will catch you up on everything that has happened in the last three months with my second host family. I can’t thank my second host family enough for everything that they’ve done for me. I had a great time there and hope to see them again before   I go.  So, yesterday I spent the morning cleaning my room in my second host family’s house and also finished packing. We had breakfast together at about 10 AM and then I did some washing and then more cleaning and because we ate breakfast so late we didn’t have lunch. Instead I hung out a bit with my host sister and talked with her. When I first arrived at my second host family, they asked me if I liked any types of drinks (other than beer which here is Switzerland they drink quite a lot of), and I said whiskey. My host dad immediately got really excited and said before I go we’ll have to h

HELLO!

Hello! I have so much to talk about! I know I haven't written in months sorry about that! I am officially in my third host family and things are going great! I'm back in Burgdorf and I'm loving it here. I finally got internet on my laptop so I can now fill you in on what is new. So, we are still under quarantine here and have been for 6 weeks now. We have online school but we have more work to do here than my friends do in Canada. I hear they only have to do around four hours a week while here we have a normal day. 8-4 everyday for all our subjects.  I got here in my third host family on April 4 and things are going so great! I have a host sister who is one year younger than me and a host brother who is the same age. Every night we try and play a game so sometimes we play UNO and then these last few days we have played a game called Tutto. It's very similar to Yatzee but it's with cards and dice. You try and get three of a kind and to get a Tutto you have to ha

Christmas

So... I guess I haven't talked about Christmas yet. I was still at my first host families house for Christmas. For that week Edna's host siblings came and we were 10 people in total at Christmas. The first ones to come were the oldest host brother and his girlfriend, then the next day middle bother and the next day the youngest brother and his girlfriend. Usually here Christmas is celebrated on the 24th of December but they did it on the 25th because the youngest brother wasn't there yet. On Christmas day everyone but Salome (older host sister), Christa and I went off at around noon to play a game of tennis. I helped Christa make dinner. She was making a six course dinner. I helped make the Raviolli and it was so much fun! We made the pasta dough from scratch and I loved making it! For dinner we had first a soup, then a salad, then raviolli, then we had a beet wellignton, then a huge piece of the best meet I've ever had and then we had a dessert that was something with

New Host Family

So I am officially in my second host family and everything is going great. I got here on January 3 and it's been going really good. My host family now has more people living in the house then the Schonenbergers, but I've gotten used to it. So, on the third, Edna, Christa, Roman and I drove to my new family, who lives in a town just outside Burgdorf called Hasle, and what was supposed to be 2 PM turned to a 3 PM arrival time. That morning I was doing some last minute packing and tidying my room. It was kinda funny looking back because Christa made us lunch about around 12:30 but I still had to finish my packing (I was having a terrible time trying to stuff the last few things in my bag) so I ate quickly trying to say politely that I have to go. Instead she started this long talk and was showing me stuff on the computer, that, really I didn't care about (but I knew I should be paying attention) but because I was so panicked about how we have to leave in a few minutes and I h
